Clinical Oversight and Standing Orders
Dr. Cherie Wyatt-Hutana provides clinical oversight and standing orders to medical practitioners working in the field of Cosmetic Medicine. She does this under her scope as an Accredited Member of the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine.
It is worth understanding the Medical Council Requirements when considering who to choose as your oversight doctor, so that you have confidence in that you are being provided with legally compliant clinical oversight.
The Medical council of NZ require that oversight for category 2 cosmetic procedures:
Be provided by a Doctor with the relevant Medical scope ( a Dermatologist, Plastic Surgeon or a NZSCM accredited Doctor.) i.e. a medical doctor who does not practice and have adequate training in the scope of cosmetic medicine can not provide legal oversight.
Medical Council Standing order requirements also dictate that:
the issuing doctor must personally assess the competency of each practitioner under the standing order
and
either countersign each medical note/ prescription OR undertake monthly audit of a proportion of clinical notes.
