Medical Skin Consultations

Doctor-led assessment and treatment for acne, rosacea, melasma and other common skin conditions

Skin concerns are not always solved by adding another product or choosing a treatment from a menu.

A medical skin consultation allows us to assess what may be causing the problem, consider relevant health and lifestyle factors, and create an evidence-based treatment plan tailored to your skin.

When Should I Book a Medical Skin Consultation?

A medical skin consultation is the best place to start when you have a persistent, recurrent or unexplained skin concern that may require diagnosis or prescription treatment.

You may benefit from an appointment if:

  • Your skin concern is not improving with over-the-counter skincare

  • You are experiencing persistent redness, inflammation, itching or discomfort

  • You have recurrent acne, rashes or flare-ups

  • You suspect rosacea, melasma, eczema or another skin condition

  • You have tried multiple products or treatments and are unsure what to do next

  • You may require prescription skincare or medication

  • You would like a coordinated plan incorporating medical treatment, skincare and in-clinic procedures

What We Treat

A woman (Dr. Cherie Wyatt-Hutana) with blonde hair taking a mirror selfie with a camera, wearing a brown top and beige pants, with a plant and a display of skincare products in the background.
What happens during

Your consultation

Your appointment begins with a detailed discussion about your skin concern, including when it began, how it has changed, symptoms, previous treatments, current skincare and any relevant medical or lifestyle factors.

Depending on the concern, your assessment may include:

  • Clinical examination of the affected skin

  • Review of your current skincare and medications

  • Clinical photography to help document progress

  • Dermoscopy or Woods lamp assessment where appropriate

  • Discussion of likely diagnosis and contributing factors

  • Prescription treatment where clinically indicated

  • Recommendations for medical-grade skincare

  • Consideration of in-clinic treatments such as peels, LED, IPL or laser

  • Referral, laboratory testing or biopsy where required

You will leave with a clear plan outlining what to use, what to stop, and the next steps recommended for your skin.

Skin conditions often need more than one approach.

More Than a Skincare Recommendation

As a doctor-led skin and laser clinic, we can combine medical assessment and prescription treatment with evidence-based skincare, skin therapies and laser or light-based treatments where appropriate.

For example:

  • Acne treatment may combine prescription medication, skincare, peels and LED before addressing residual scarring.

  • Rosacea management may include medical treatment, barrier repair and vascular laser or IPL for persistent redness and visible vessels.

  • Melasma treatment may combine prescription pigment treatment, carefully selected skincare and a cautious laser protocol in suitable patients.

  • Dermatitis management may require removal of aggravating products, prescription treatment and a simplified barrier-supportive routine.

The aim is not simply to treat what is visible on the day, but to create a practical plan that improves control of the condition over time.
